About the Item
This cabinet combines three elemental materials, concrete, steel and wood to create a grounded, but elegant piece of furniture. The fascia is cold-rolled steel laminated to a walnut veneer core. The cabinet is topped with a cast-concrete slab. Stefan Rurak transforms the steel, a characteristically cold material, to project warmth and vibration, by applying his unique process that combines painting with a range of black oxides and fire. The final result is a vibrating, textured surface that has been "patinated". The piece features adjustable shelves and tip-on hardware. The cabinet has five solid walnut wood dovetailed drawers, hand-turned solid walnut wood legs complete the piece.
