About the Item

Walnut trumeau fully panelled in bois de violette, phytomorphic interlacing maple fillets and inlays throughout. Three-drawer base with moved front, pierced and carved pilasters with curl movement,two placed on the 45-degree front uprights and four more in the middle of the sides where the cabinet widens through constructive leavening. Flap door, concealing scarab with pair of surmounted side drawers and central open compartment, secret in the sliding top. Riser with pair of doors mercury mirror and two lamp holder drawers below, inner castle consisting of three drawers and open compartments, cornice with scroll-carved molding. The carved parts of the cabinet, frames and curls are ebonized, the feet end in a shelf front. Poplar drawer interior. Antique spouts made of chiseled and gilded bronze. Restorations. Rome, second quarter 18th century.
