About the Item

A fine example of a late 17th century Spanish vargueno on stand. The early mahogany cabinet has the original iron mounts and the fall front opens to reveal a beautifully fitted interior with architectural design to the drawers in ebony and bone. This must be some of the first use of mahogany coming back to Spain from Cuba. Circa 1700
