About the Item
A 1930s burr walnut cocktail cabinet, in French 18th century style, with peach glass liner, mirrored interior, with a Maple
Co delivery tag to its back, some restoration carried out, Epstein of London, 95 by 42.5 by 117cm high.
This is a fantastic vintage cocktail cabinet with fabulous ormolu mounts, exquisite floral marquetry decoration circa 1950 in date by the renowned makers of bespoke furniture, Epstein of London and retailed by Maple
Co with accessories,
The doors open to reveal three shaped shelves and it is fitted with automatic lights that have been rewired and are in working order. The fall front door is decorated with floral marquetry and opens to reveal a peach glass liner with a mirrored interior.
Below the fall front is a two door cupboard to house your bottles and it stands on elegant cabriole legs.
This cocktail bar would be a wonderful and playful addition to your lounge or family room and is sure to get noticed wherever it is placed.

Maple
Co
the renowned furniture retailer of London, Paris and Buenos Aires, were famous for top quality furniture.
They were by Royal Appointment and became one of the leading furniture manufacturers of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. They used only the finest quality timber which was imported directly from all over the world.
Maple and Company were founded in 1841 in Tottenham Court Road, London and had premises there until 1997. By the 1880s they were the largest and most successful furniture makers in the world, their huge emporium having become a tourist attraction in its own right. In addition to their middle class clientele, they furnished Embassies, hotels, beautiful homes and palaces all over the globe, including Tsar Nicholas's Winter Palace, the Hoffburg Imperial Palace in Vienna, and many of Britain's country houses.
Epstein furniture
was originally founded in East London by Polish immigrants in the 1890s. The firm passed to brothers Harry and Lou Epstein and the pair turned their attention to the production of Art Deco forms from the 1930s until the 1950s.
Finished to high standards, most pieces were custom-made in veneers of burr maple, sycamore or walnut. The design of the famous ‘cloud’ seat furniture is credited to Epstein and the company also popularized the uniquely British taste in suite furniture.
Following World War II, Epstein had showrooms in London, Manchester and Glasgow. A conservative Art Deco style became the company`s trademark after the war and most pieces were made from bleached walnut. Art Deco pieces are not signed.
From the 1960s, some pieces were labelled ‘H.
L. Epstein’ or ‘Epstein
Goldman’.
