About the Item

This is a rare ensemble consisting of a wall-mounted cabinet and a movable console table, both designed by Francesco Bisacco. This modernist wall system has an architectural order which returns to its vernacular origins. Its composition follows an architectural grammar of plinth, frieze, and cornice, as well as a projecting central risalit with an archway that is reminiscent of sacred niches. Plaster reliefs depict deer. The wrought iron base of the console table is finished in gold leaf. The rationalist ideal of the built-in wall system is reinfused with poetic form in this piece, which reflects a return to historic archetypes under the guise of modern utility. The result is a piece that participates in and transcends the discourse of Neues Wohnen. It reflects my approach to spatial storytelling, where poetic narratives unfold through surface, silhouette, and the interplay of contrasting materials. Intended as a focal point in a serene interior, the piece offers space for display and reflection. In spirit, this piece echoes the metaphysical classicism of Giorgio de Chirico.
