About the Item
Chest of drawers hand-made in Italy in the late 1600s using walnut. This is an absolutely stunning piece both because of its proportions as well as its character and warm color. Honestly, nothing beats antique Italian walnut! The chest is still in perfectly good working conditions and can be used on a daily basis, which to me is amazing given it is more than 300 years old and I can barely bend my back without getting stuck. In any case, the chest features three inset drawer decorated with molding around their edge. All drawers have beautiful, large, hand-made dovetail joints. The top is made of two boards with straight edges nailed to the case. The sides are flat and decorated with an inset chamfered panel with applied molding. The chest sits on hand-carved bracket feet.
This chest has seen it all, famines, plagues, revolutions, wars, good time and bad times, and every knick on its surface is a testament to a long life. The chest is a beautifully-made piece of furniture that will add history, elegance and style to any room and home it is added to.
