About the Item
Japanese antique shallow Tansu chest of drawers with 4 shelves - made of quality red pine
chestnut.
The product of 1840s - 1860s (late Edo period) estimate from the style
conditions.
Colors are deepened, close to black by age, original urushi lacquer remains in good condition.
Guessing from the style, it would be used as "Seiri dansu (organizer Tansu storage)" for desktop or on the floor (on tatami mat).
Having good storage capacity with 44cm (17.32 inches) wide 4 shelves
8 drawers, suitable for organizing things as well as the collection case.
The structural parts are made of red pine, while the drawer faces are made of chestnut.
Each drawers open
close smoothly, durable enough for actual use.
