About the Item
An Italian raised two-drawer chest, with decorative inlay and brass hardware, from the 18th century. This antique cassettiera (chest of drawers) from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top with front having a serpentine shape, which continues down onto the two drawers housed within the case below. Each drawer has a beautiful, rectangular-shaped inlay set across their facade, and are fitted with decorative brass pulls flanking the escutcheon keyhole at center. The skirt is scalloped about three sides with front center being more exaggerated. The chest is presented upon four carved cabriole style legs that terminate onto peg feet. This 18th century Italian chest, with its curvy lines and nice inlay accents, would be a beautiful addition to a bedroom, or perhaps in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
