About the Item

Commode hand-made in Italy in the mid 1700s using walnut and pine and decorated with walnut veneer and briarwood. The chest of drawers features three inset drawers that are opened with the use of the key. The second drawer can only open by reaching under it and sliding it forward. All drawers have beautiful, hand-made dovetail joints and are decorated with several layers of veneer arranged in different patterns, creating beautiful decoration by playing with the different grains of the various cut of wood. The entire commode covered with veneer, giving it beautiful decoration as well as balance. The chest of drawers is extremely straight in lines, giving it a very modern look, despite its age. The decoration is also very modern, as a result, this is a piece that will fit well in a contemporary household that is looking for a statement piece that is still functional. A few repairs were made to the veneer over time but they are barely visible. A few stains are present on the top (pictured).
