Mid 18th Century Mahogany Serpentine 'Bombe' Commode Dutch Origin circa 1760 - 1780 18th Century Bombe Shaped Chest of Drawers The solid figured mahogany top is richly patinated with a serpentine front and thumbnail bevelled edge above three long graduated drawers. The oak lined drawers are dressed with later fitted gilt brass handles that have matching escutcheons and the original gilt brass needing to the 'bombe' shaped sides. The handle castings of doves,cherubs and floral urns is of good quality and have been on the chest for very long time. The serpentine 'Bombe' shaped chest is raised on bold gilt brass mounted splayed feet on a shaped apron.
