About the Item
A stunning Antique French Louis XV-style semainier (tall chest of drawers), crafted in the late 19th to early 20th century. This elegant seven-drawer chest is designed for week-long storage, with each drawer intended for a different day of the week.
The piece features exquisite parquetry and marquetry inlay, arranged in a chevron pattern, showcasing expert craftsmanship. The curved front and cabriole legs are characteristic of the Louis XV style, adding a graceful and timeless silhouette. The richly veined marble top complements the warm wood tones, enhancing its luxurious appeal. Based on the colors, veining, and brecciated texture the most likely marble types are Breccia Pernice Marble (Italy) or Sarrancolin Marble (France), both of which are rare and valuable.
Each drawer is adorned with ornate brass escutcheons and drawer pulls, typical of fine French furniture. The dovetail joints suggest handcrafted construction, while the paneled back indicates its authentic antique status.
