About the Item

Carlo X secretary chest of drawers hand-made in Italy in the early 1800s using oak as secondary and book-matched mahogany veneer as primary woods. The chest features three functional drawers topped by a secretary flip down writing surface. Smaller drawers are found inside the secretary portion of the piece. The chest of drawers is very straight in lines with rounded front corners, and it is topped by new Carrara marble top. The drawers open using a key as a handle. Overall this is a beautifully-made piece that will add decoration as well as practicality to a home. Its light color will allow it to fit perfectly into a modern home, however its old age and overall lines will also fit well with other antiques. This is a very versatile piece that could be placed in a bedroom, living room, office or entryway, but also a formal as well as a more rustic home.
