About the Item

Louis Philippe Chest of drawers hand-made in France in the early 1800s using oak as secondary and book-matched mahogany veneer as primary wood. The mahogany was bleached highlighting the beautiful grey, pink and white grain of the wood. The chest is very straight in lines decorated with brass elements on the corners and is topped by a beautiful old grey marble. The drawers have large, hand-made dovetail joints and the hardware is all original. Overall this is a gorgeous, straight-lined piece of furniture that will fit well in a modern setting because of its timeless lines and its light color. Bleached antiques are fantastic because they couple the solid construction typical of antiques, as well as elegant proportions and styles with an overall modern light appearance; making them perfect pieces for a contemporary that craves for history.
