About the Item

Louis Philippe chest of drawers hand-made in Southern France in the early 1800s using fruitwood and decorated with walnut burl veneer. The chest of drawers follows the typical Louis Philippe lines, with a top thin drawers with a curved front, and three inset bottom drawers. The sides are flat and the corners of the top are rounded. The chest still sits on its original hand-carve bracket feet. The drawers all show beautiful, hand-made dovetail joints and are decorated on the fronts with stunning book-matched walnut burl veneer. This is an absolutely gorgeous piece that was masterfully done. The burl veneer on the front was already beautiful, but the bleaching process really makes it pop by highlighting the natural grey grain of the walnut. Overall this can be both a practical as well as highly decorative piece that is truly one of a kind.
