About the Item

We are pleased to offer this exceptional early Biedermeier walnut commode, made in Vienna circa 1825. Viennese Biedermeier furniture is distinguished by its refined proportions, restrained elegance, and outstanding craftsmanship. Its timeless design integrates beautifully into both classic and modern interiors. The commode features three convex lower drawers framed by ebonized columns with gilded details, enhancing its elegant character. The top drawer has a flat front. The piece is veneered in beautifully figured, book-matched walnut with a deep amber tone and an authentic 200-year-old patina. The brass hardware and locks are original; the original key is present and fully functional. The commode stands on graceful, high block legs, lending the piece a sense of lightness and sophistication. The quality of the walnut veneer is exceptional. The commode has been professionally conserved with great respect for its original materials and historical integrity. It is in excellent condition, stable and ready for use, while fully preserving its authentic character. Original French polish finish. Examples of this caliber—large, early Viennese Biedermeier commodes of museum quality—are extremely rare. We offer worldwide air shipment at a discounted price of $1,600.
