About the Item

Use this elegant painted chest of drawers in an entryway, bedroom, or living room. Crafted in France circa 1860, the antique commode sits on tapered and fluted legs and features beautifully carved details including fluted side pilasters, a molded apron, and three drawers each centered with an oval medallion motif surrounded by delicate beaded trim. The sides are decorated with recessed panels, while the top showcases recessed front corners, a characteristic touch of the Louis XVI period. The piece retains its original metal hardware and key escutcheons, and the rich off-white painted finish has been gently rubbed for a soft, textured patina revealing the natural wood beneath. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, this timeless commode will complement both classical and contemporary interiors. Key included. Measures: 39" W × 19.75" D × 33.5" H.
