About the Item
Louis XVI chest of drawers hand-made in France in the late 1700s using walnut and decorated with simple ebonized trim and rhomboid shapes on the drawer fronts. The commode presents very straight lines and features three inset drawers, all showing beautiful, hand-made dovetail joints. The sides are made of flat, chamfered panels framed with flat molding. The top features three boards with ogee edges. The commde still sits on its original square feet.
This is a beautiful and simple, yet elegant piece of furniture, which is both decorative and functional. The drawers work well and are roomy. The hardware is not original but marries the style well. The color of the walnut is warm and shows beautiful grain.
