About the Item

George III chest of drawers hand-made in the UK in the early 1800s using oak. . The commode features three drawers of, roughly, the same shape all showing hand-made dovetail joints. The top is nailed to the case with small squared nails and framed by a thin hand-carved molding. The chest sits on hand-carved bracket feet, which have received some repairs over time (pictured). The case of the chest was rebuilt at some time in its life, and the drawer fronts have been repaired as well (pictured). Overall this is a beautiful, small chest with straight, elegant lines and gorgeous color. The bleaching process brought out the striations of the oak providing depth and warmth, despite the very light color. Because of its lines and timeless look, this chest will fit perfectly in a modern home with modern and contemporary furniture, as well as in a more traditional or rustic setting.
