About the Item
Chest of drawers hand-made in the Emilia region Italy in the early 1800s using walnut and decorated with walnut veneer. The chest is very well made and would be a beautiful addition to any home. The dresser features four overlay drawer with ogee edges and beautiful, hand-carved dovetail joints. The top drawer is very thin, whereas the other three are rather deep and large. The drawer fronts are decorated with cross-banded walnut veneer framed in two thin lines of walnut inlay, the same rectangular veneer pattern is repeated on the sides, whereas the top features two flat boards with straight edges and rounded front corners. The front corners of the case are also rounded and soften the overall look of the piece. The chest still sits on its original hand-turned feet.
Overall this is a beautiful piece that is very decorative and, despite being rather large, it does not look imposing because of its very light color. The shape, color and overall look make this a very versatile piece that will look fantastic in a formal setting, a rustic setting or even and easy going setting, like a beach house.
