About the Item
Empire commode / chest of drawers hand-made in Italy in the early 1800s using walnut. The commode features three inset drawers with beautiful hand-made dovetail joints and wood grain. The escutcheons are inlaid and no pulls are present. Drawers are opened with the use of the key. The front corners are decorated with a hand-carved fluted flat column, and the chest sits on hand-turned legs. The top is a large and thick piece of hand-cut striated grey marble. The marble overhangs on the back (pictured).
Overall this is a beautiful, elegant and simple chest of drawers that has great proportions, storing space and beautiful wood grain. The marble has been repaired in the past but done masterfully and barely visible.
