About the Item

Empire chest of drawers hand-made in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy in the early 1900s using walnut. The chest has typical empire lines, with an overhanging top drawer and columns on the front corners. The chest features three inset drawers, the top one narrower than the bottom two. The drawer fronts are decorated with beautiful book-matched vertical grain veneer. The pattern created by the contrast between the different grains of the wood is mesmerizing and make this a highly decorative piece. The top is also decorated with book-matched veneer that was framed by thick cross-banded veneer. Overall this is a beautifully built piece of furniture that is highly functional as well as decorative. The masterly-placed veneer give it a truly unique look and make it seem smaller than it really is. This is a perfect piece for someone who is looking for a truly unique chest of drawers that is capacious, can be used on a daily basis and adds warmth and style all at the same time.
