About the Item
Chest of drawers hand-crafted in central Italy in the early 1800s using walnut and decorated with book-matched walnut veneer and fruitwood inlay. The chest features five inset drawers over four rows. Each drawer shows large, hand-carved dovetail joints and is decorated on the front with gorgeous book-matched walnut flame veneer. The escutcheons are inlaid and in the shape of a shield. the corners of the chest are chamfered and this shape is repeated on the top. The top is also decorated with flame book-matched veneer but it is additionally adorned with a inlay star at the center and a thin line of alternating fruitwood and walnut inlay. The chest of drawers sits on turned feet on the front and square feet on hte back.
Overall this is a gorgeous and masterfully-decorated chest of drawers. Its lines are simple, yet it is a show stopper and it will add style and sophistication to any room it is added. The drawers work well and are opened using keys, which do not lock but are used as pull (shown in video). Whether in an entryway, living room, office or bedroom, this chest of drawers will provide practical storage as well as a beautiful piece to look at.
