About the Item
An absolutely charming antique 1920s French provincial commode on elongated cabriole legs. The cabinet was crafted out of oak in France in the 1920s or 1930s in the style of Louis XV. The distressed blue paint does not seem to be original and was likely painted in the latter part of the 20th century. The French provincial style hardware, serpentine front, tall proportions, and elongated curving legs give this commode such an elegant appearance. Note the lighter painted shell carving in the center bottom of the cabinet.
The commode top is natural wood and shows signs of wear and use with light scratches, see photos. The drawers glide smoothly. The antique locks are intact however there is no key included.
In as found condition. Light flaking of paint. Imperfections in the painted surface from purposeful distressing and use. The legs and cabinet are strong and sturdy. The drawers glide smoothly. Scratches in the natural wood top from use.
