An antique Indonesian floral carved wooden treasure chest from the early 20th century, with red and gold accents. Created on the island of Madura off of the northeastern coast of Java, this treasure chest attracts our attention with its contrasting colors and skillfully executed décor. Featuring a rectangular lid with flattened nailheads, opening to reveal a convenient storage space with side box, the chest is adorned with a striking gilt floral hand carved décor, standing out beautifully on a red ground. Presenting lateral C-scroll handles, the chest is raised on four exquisite scrolling feet, connected to one another through an apron carved on three sides. With its refined floral motifs and contrasting colors, this early 20th century Javanese treasure chest will be an undeniable focal point in any home, particularly in a bedroom or living room.
