About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning original late Victorian Military Campaign used chest of drawers in pitch pine with wrought iron fixtures and fittings and brass name plate reading L Oakley I’ve not seem a campaign chest before in pitch pine, nor have I seen one with hand hammered wrought iron fixtures and fittings. Most likely this was a junior officer of a lesser statue with limited funds hence the use of cheaper materials, which makes this piece a rather rare survivor. The chest has a brass name plate which reads L Oakley, this as mentioned will be the name of the serviceman or women who owned the piece The condition is sublime, it has a reddish brown stain over it, the fixtures and fittings are all well travelled and the timber has decades of wear and tear, it really is one of the nicest examples patina wise that I have ever seen Dimensions Height:- 57cm Width:- 97cm Depth:- 53cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
