About the Item
One of a kind Biedermeier chest of drawers with neoclassical lines and stylistic similarities to the Empire style. The front is divided into three sections, each with an individual key and bone escutcheons. The largest of the three drawers, which occupies the central part of the chest, features a semicircular recess in the wood that frames and displays a rich, refined floral marquetry work in fine woods, walnut, and fruitwoods. The apron and base are trimmed in lemonwood, and the entire piece rests on tapered legs. Absolutely exceptional for this type of chest of drawers, and indicative of its being custom-made to the original owner's needs and tastes, we find the first register with a compartmentalized interior. Openings distribute the space, and small compartments are closed with lids, each fitted with a bone handle (one handle has detached but is still inside). The entire chest of drawers is predominantly made of mahogany and mahogany palm with a rich and lustrous grain.
An extraordinary and unique piece of antique furniture, exceptional in its design, use of precious woods, and sophisticated floral marquetry. A piece of furniture of great elegance and beauty, it will bring style and sophistication to any space.
