A Charles II Oak and Marquetry Chest of Drawers, 17th Century Provenance: Private Australian Collection. Description: The rectangular top over inlaid cavetto and brackets to the front and dentil cornice to either side, above a narrow long frieze drawer comprising three projecting carved marquetry panels each inlaid with square and diamond motifs, each divided by four smaller raised panels running flush with the brackets, to second larger deep drawer with further three panels decorated with projecting detailing and carved designs, descending to moulding dividing the upper and lower case, the latter with two further deep drawers of conforming size each with a further trio of projecting carved and inlaid marquetry panels, each of the flanking panels to all drawers centred by a brass drop handle, the base with moulded skirting and raised on bracket feet.
