Circa 1815 French Empire 4-drawer commode. Restrained, elegant design typical of the period. Subtly shaped, flattened columns, with quality bronze mounts where they sweep out toward the top; shaped feet, 3 drawers with bronze escutcheons under the frieze drawer surmounted by the wooden top (both wood and marble tops were used at the time on this form). Mahogany mahogany book-matched veneers. Condition commensurate with age and use. 48 5/8" w., 23.25" d., 34 7/8" h.
