About the Item

This early twentieth century French Louis XV style commode or chest of drawers is constructed of solid walnut. This piece is called a sauteuse in French, or jumping chest, due to its high legs. The chest features a beveled top and curved sides, and its two drawers are fitted with bronze drawer pulls detailed with a shell motif. It stands on gently curved cabriole legs. With a 43" width, this piece would be ideal as a nightstand. Includes two keys. c. 1920.
