About the Item
A very cool pair of French carved and painted wood side chests, with central fluted column motif, from the mid 20th century. This pair of commodes from France each feature a clean design with emphasis on a fluted column with ionic capitals at the tops, which projects outward from the center of the top and drawers, with carvings from top continuing down across the three drawer fronts and tapering down to the base. The chests are raised on platform style bases. There is a custom finish in a dark grey with a wash of blue over it. This pair of stylish mid-century French side chests would work well flanking a sofa, or as nightstands at either side of a bed.
