Diese elegante Chiffonnière (oder Table de Chevet) im zweiten Louis-XVI-Stil aus dem frühen 19. Jahrhundert, besticht durch ihre harmonische Verbindung von strenger Geometrie und prachtvollem Bronzeschmuck. Das Objekt ist ein Paradebeispiel für den Goût Grec, jene Phase des französischen Klassizismus, die sich von den verspielten Formen des Rokoko abwandte und zu antiken Vorbildern zurückkehrte.
Der Korpus ist in einer feinen Marqueterie aus Rosenholz (Bois de Rose) und Königsholz (Bois de Violette) gearbeitet. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Verwendung von kontrastierenden Furnieren. Die Front der drei Schubladen zeigt eine geometrische Einlegearbeit, die von feinen Bandelwerk-Intarsien gerahmt wird. Die Seitenwände sind in einer markanten Buch-Furnier-Technik im Fischgrätmuster gestaltet, was dem Möbel eine architektonische Tiefe verleiht. Die Deckplatte ist ebenfalls reich intarsiert und wird von einer umlaufenden, durchbrochenen Galerie aus vergoldeter Bronze gefasst.
Die Qualität der feuervergoldeten Bronzen (Bronze Doré) ist exzellent und definiert den luxuriösen Charakter des Stücks. Die Ecken werden von prächtigen Widderköpfen (Têtes de Bélier) geziert, die in herabfallende Akanthusblätter und Festons übergehen. Unterhalb der Platte verläuft ein umlaufender Fries in Form von Draperien mit Quasten, der dem Möbel eine fast textile Leichtigkeit verleiht. Die schlanken, leicht geschwungenen Beine (ein dezenter Rückgriff auf die Transition-Zeit) enden in fein ziselierten Bronzeschuhen.
Die Rückwand zeigt altersbedingte Trocknungsspuren im Holz, was auf eine authentische Alterung der verwendeten Materialien hindeutet. Das Möbel befindet sich in einem hervorragenden Erhaltungszustand, mit einer tiefen, warmen Patina der Politur.
