A Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Mounted Japanese Lacquer and Ebony Marble-Top Commode à Vantaux
After the Model by Martin Carlin, Paris, Circa 1890
Height 37 x width 60 x depth 21 inches.
The design for this commode is taken from the celebrated model by Martin Carlin delivered in 1785 to Madame Victoire, daughter of Louis XV, for her ‘grand cabinet’ at the Château de Bellevue. That commode is now in the Collection of the Musee du Louvre.
