About the Item
A most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. Moucheté Mahogany, ormolu, and Gris St. Anne marble commode. The three drawer chest is raised by beautiful topie shaped legs with fine ormolu sabots and lovely textured top caps. Above the straight frieze are the three drawers each displaying remarkable ormolu pulls, fine keyhole escutcheon framed within a delicate beaded band and set on a beautiful Moucheté Mahogany background. Above each leg are striking circular fluted columns leading upwards with richly chased fitted foliate ormolu chandelles centering the recessed side panels showcasing the warm wood grain and also framed within a fine beaded ormolu band. Above is the original Gris St. Anne marble top. All original gilt throughout.
