About the Item

A fabulous scalloped design make this 20th century French stripped and painted commode a standout. This recently painted case piece incorporates elements of both Louis XV and Regence styles. The shaped top with a serpentine molded edge is atop three large bowed and scalloped drawers with crested escutcheon plates and painted metal drop pulls decorated in floral motifs. Three keys, also with a painted finish, are present and rest inside three working locks. The lovely molding follows down to four curving cabriole legs connected by a matching, hand-carved skirt. This commode pairs elegant shapes and fluid lines with a textured, painted patina to make a wonderful addition to a bedroom, powder room or child’s room.
