About the Item

French Louis XV period walnut commode in galbee form, three drawers and gilt bronze foliate style mounts. The commode has a very nice, mellow patina. The top is one large, solid piece of walnut unlike anything you could find today, with an interesting patch in the right front corner (see photos).

Good antique condition; some worm damage, spltting due to wood expansion and contraction and other effects of age-related wear lending character and patina. Bronze handles appear to be later replacements. Two locks missing.
