About the Item
A French Neoclassical marble-top chest of three drawers from the 19th century. This antique commode from France features a rectangular-shaped black marble top, above a case which houses three full-sized, graduated drawers, flanked with column-style front side posts with Corithian tops. The drawers are each fitted with a pair of lion's head ring pulls and a decorative escutcheon within their center. The chest is raised upon a pair of carved paw feet at front, with turned legs at backside. The wood finish (not original) is primarily shades of blue with grey, and white on the front side posts/columns. This 19th century French Neoclassical commode, with its fabulous hardware and feet, will make a handsome case piece for your storage and display needs.
