About the Item
A French Neoclassical commode, with black marble top and brass accents, from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped marble top, with pronounced rounded corners at front, which rests atop a neoclassical case with rounded and fluted side posts (wrapped with brass band accents at top) which flank four drawers (a pair of half-sized drawers atop two full-sized drawers below). Each of the dove-tailed drawers are outlined with brass trim, and fitted with a pair of brass rectangular bail-pulls, and a minimalist escutcheon keyhole at their centers. This commode is presented upon conical legs with brass trim at their bulbous tops and terminating into brass peg feet. This piece has a custom midnight blue wash (dark coal/navy) which allows the brass trim to really pop. The marble is black with white and grey veining. This 19th century French Neoclassic commode will make a lovely addition within your home, offering storage within and a place for desired objects to be prominently displayed atop.

A French Neoclassical commode, with marble top and exquisite brass accents, from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped gray marble top, over case which houses four drawers (upper drawer is disguised within the top frieze), flanked within a pair of rounded column style front side posts, a straight skirt, and presented upon rounded front feet and block style feet at rear. Beautiful brass accents adorn the chest all down its front facade; from the foliate embellishments across the top and again at the bottom of the legs, the nicely decorated knob pulls and escutcheons on the drawer fronts, and finally the wrapped banding on the top and bottom of the columns. The marble is a medium gray with lighter and darker veining, which is a lovely contrast against the gorgeous fruitwood. This antique chest from France has a black marble top which rests atop a wooden chest consisting of two drawers flanking between canted front side posts, and raised upon four legs (cabriole at front with squared at rear), and a subtle break-front design that carries through from the marble top, down the case and onto the swag-carved front apron.
