About the Item
A superb and elegant 18th-century French oak commode called the Parisienne. The oak top features a beveled edge and molding that extends to the beautifully hand-paneled sides. The front is divided into three prominent sections, adorned with impressive, large, hand-cast bronze fittings and gilt bronze escutcheons. The front culminates in a skirt with a slightly wavy, fluted profile. The entire commode rests on thick, straight legs that continue the fluted side panels at the front, adding a touch of design and robustness to the piece.
A high-quality, original period piece. It bears the original label on the front.
