About the Item
This striking little demilune commode features exceptional inlaid mahogany in a variety of grain patterns that have been thoughtfully bookmatched and placed about the chest to maximize the beauty expressed throughout the compact design. Made in France circa 1965, this vintage chest was created in the style of Louis XV and underwent a refinishing in November of 2009. This restoration is documented in writing beneath the half-moon slab of Breche d’Alep marble which tops the chest, along with the attribution of “Vernissage par H.B.B Maco 1965”. Two shaped drawers are housed within the chest and bedecked with cast brass pulls and escutcheons. There are no keys present. Beautiful cast brass ormolu can also be found about the front feet, apron and flanking the bank of drawers. Please view the detailed images to see more.
