George II Burr Walnut Chest on Chest Item Code: S27-750A A handsome and well-proportioned George II chest on chest, beautifully veneered in richly figured burr walnut and displaying excellent colour and patina throughout. This fine early–mid 18th century piece combines elegant proportions with generous storage, making it both practical and visually refined. The upper section is fitted with two short drawers over three graduated long drawers, all finely crossbanded and retaining attractive period brass handles and escutcheons. The lower chest is fitted with a further three graduated long drawers, continuing the balanced and harmonious design. The whole is framed by fluted canted corners and finished with a moulded cornice above and a shaped bracket foot base below, all consistent with George II period taste. Crafted with quality materials and strong construction, this chest on chest demonstrates the restrained elegance and fine veneers typical of the George II period.
