About the Item

A very handsome Italian 18th century Louis XVI period walnut and tulipwood marquetry commode, in the manner of Maggiolini. The three drawer chest is raised on four square tapered legs with an intricate marquetry design that is repeated along with the two side columns above. The sans traverse central drawers with ormolu pulls and keyhole escutcheon are inlaid with a splendid central marquetry garden design, with foliate and birds, and Rai de Coeur border. At each side are designs of urns of flowers The top drawer is decorated with intricate inlays of cameos amidst floral garlands, urns, and bowls. The top displays the same superb marquetry as the front.
