About the Item
An Italian Empire carved wood chest of four drawers from the 19th century. This antique chest from Italy has a rectangular top which overhangs the case below that houses four drawers, with top drawer being more hidden within the upper frieze, and three full-sized drawers below which are flanked with column side posts that have volute carved tops. The chest is raised on nicely-carved block feet. The three lower drawers are each fitted with floral brass pulls and an elaborate escutcheon at center. The medium tone wood grain has a nice patina throughout. This 19th century Italian Empire chest would be a beautiful addition to a bedroom, or perhaps in a foyer or living area, with decorative items atop and storage within.
