About the Item

Empire chest of drawers hand-made in Italy in the early 1800s using walnut. The chest of drawer is very simple in lines, yet very elegant and ornate because of the beautiful book-matched vertical walnut veneer placed throughout the piece. The dresser features three inset drawers, all with beautiful hand-made dovetail joints. On the front corners, the dresser is decorated with two curved columns, the only rounded shapes on the piece. The dresser sits on its original square feet, and is decorated with thick square molding along the bottom edge of the case. The top has square edges and is decorated with veneer crossbanding. Overall this is a beautiful and spacious chest of drawers that will provide plenty of usable storage space. Its color and character are fantastic and the overall proportions are very pleasing, despite being pretty large. The veneer is very decorative and make this a piece that will be both functional as well as ornamental in any room it is placed
