About the Item

This Japanese antique small chest of drawers (kohikidashi) was crafted in the Taisho Era (1912–1926). Made from sugi (Japanese cedar), it shows a mellow, time-softened patina with subtle maker’s marks—a quiet expression of wabi-sabi. The design is simple and well-proportioned: three drawers within a clean frame on a low plinth, with understated half-moon pulls mellowed by age. Easy to place and genuinely useful: ideal on a desk, shelf, or sideboard for letters, stationery, tea utensils, sewing notions, or small tableware. It brings gentle warmth and a composed presence to both traditional and modern interiors. The piece has been carefully washed with water. Drawers move smoothly. As an antique piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent antique condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its character. Interior dimensions (in inches, centimeters in parentheses): Drawer interior: W13.6" × D13.6" × H3.2" (34.5 × 34.5 × 8.2 cm) Weight : 15.8lbs (7.2kg) Shipping Information We ship from Japan.
