About the Item
This Japanese vintage multi-drawer chest was crafted in the Early Showa Period (1926–).
Made of hiba (Thujopsis, often called “hiba cypress”), it shows a light, warm tone with gentle, time-softened patina. The composition is calm and well balanced: two vertical banks of five drawers set within a clean frame on light feet. A finely framed top with special corner joinery lends a quiet, tailored look, while the wooden pulls add a subtle crafted accent.
Practical and easy to place—great in a living room, studio, entry, or dining space for papers and notebooks, cutlery and linens, tea utensils, or small tools. The orderly grid gives a composed presence without visual weight, suiting both traditional and modern interiors.
Cleaned and disinfected with a non-toxic solution.
Drawers move smoothly.
As a vintage piece, minor scratches and marks may be present, each adding to its unique charm and the story it tells over time. It has been carefully inspected and remains in excellent vintage condition, with natural signs of age that enhance its character.
