About the Item
A beautiful mahogany and burled walnut serpentine cabinet or linen chest by Joseph Gerte, Boston, with conforming top, probably for linen storage, with hand painted oval paterae with classical figures and foliate decoration along its frieze drawer, two front doors, and turned corner columns. The two doors open to reveal four interior slide out open drawers. A Joseph Gerte Boston brand appears inside the frieze drawer, and a locking key is included. The chest dates to the 20th century and is in very good overall condition, with minimal imperfections and light wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 39.38 in H x 37.13 in W x 21.75 in D.
