About the Item

A stunning late 19th Century well figured rosewood marble top chest of exceptional quality and finely hand carved with gorgeously rich patination and grain. Ormolu mounted throughout and intricately inlaid with beautiful marquetry panels depicting exquisite flowerheads and scrolling foliate motif detail. The fabulous shaped and moulded Rosso Levante marble top of serpentine form is raised above three long drawers with finely cast ormolu escutcheons and decorative scroll swan neck pulls, flanked with foliate ormolu appointments to each side. The shaped and elegantly simple serpentine apron with further centred richly scrolling foliate detail, terminating on slender gracefully tapering outswept leg with finely cast sabot foot. Rosewood Type: 'Dalbergia Latifolia'
