Antique chest of drawers with central locking system

Description:
Chest of drawers with three drawers standing on tapered square legs.
The drawer fronts are veneered in herringbone walnut, framed by maple and bog oak string inlays and a wide oak frame. The Louis XVI brass pull handles complete the uncluttered appearance of the furniture front.
The absence of keyholes and the corresponding fittings can be explained by looking at the right-hand side of the cabinet. From here, all three drawers can be locked simultaneously using a bar lock mounted in the carcase. Locks of this type are rarely found in chests of drawers and are more familiar to us from baroque top-mounted furniture for locking the drawers around the tabernacle door.
The top panel matches the design of the front, the sides are simply veneered in oak.
