About the Item

Mid 19th century traditional Swedish painted chest of drawers circa 1850. We are pleased to offer this rural piece of Swedish furniture making from the mid 19th century. Hand painted top surface which simulates marble and wood knots, encased with a simple moulded edge.  Fitted with 3 graduating drawers, turned knobs and naive wooden key plates.  Main body of the chest painted in an ochre coloured wash which allows the grain of the wood to still show through.  All raised on 4 tapered legs. Ideal for use in multiple rooms around the house, it's organic nature lending itself to many style types and interiors. Evidence of dead/inactive treated worm, expected minor surface marks and fading.  Strong and ready for everyday use.
