About the Item

This monumental rare period 1770s Italian commode is a masterful example of 18th-century craftsmanship, blending olivewood and walnut in intricate inlay work to create a timeless heirloom. The serpentine front showcases graceful curves, accented by richly patinated veneers and ornate gilt-bronze hardware. Each of the three spacious drawers is beautifully detailed with geometric and foliate inlay, enhancing the natural warmth and depth of the fine woods. Standing on strong bracket feet with a bold molded base, this commode demonstrates the refined artistry of Northern Italian cabinetmakers of the late 18th century. Its substantial scale and commanding presence make it an ideal focal point in a grand entryway, living room, or dining space. The olivewood and walnut inlays contrast elegantly, adding texture and dimension while highlighting the commode’s authentic period patina. Versatile in style, this rare Italian commode complements antique interiors, Hollywood Regency glamour, and even mid-century modern schemes, where it can serve as a striking counterpoint. Collectors and designers alike will appreciate its rarity, authenticity, and enduring elegance. A true statement piece, it embodies the sophistication and artistry of 18th-century Italy. Measures 47 wide x 38 tall x 30.5 deep.
